March 2008
March 6, 2008 I flew from Portland to Ontario, California to meet up with my grandparents who live in Yucaipa part of the year and my mom and her husband, who had flown out from South Dakota. I flew Southwest, stopping in Sacramento on the way. When I arrived, I was greeted with beautiful sunshine, flowers, and green hills from all the rain this past winter. I spent the first night at my grandparents house, then traveled Friday to San Clemente where we stayed in a condo only a block off the beach for three nights. It was so beautiful with all the palm trees and tropical flowers. We enjoyed wading in the ocean and strolling along photographing the flowers. Saturday we drove north to Crystal Cove where we enjoyed some excellent tide pools. It was refreshing coming from Oregon, used to cold winter temperatures in March, to enjoy the 75 degree weather and warm 50 degree nights. I slept out on the upstairs balcony of our condo all weekend. What an awesome place to take a relaxing vacation! It felt pretty close to Hawaii for a few days, especially for the price. Monday, after a lovely weekend with all my relatives, I headed home. The further north I went, the cloudier it got, until I arrived back in good old Portland, 45 degrees and raining. Sigh. Can’t wait for summer! |
