Busch Gardens, Tampa, Florida Nathanael Martin and Ellen Butler |
|
August 10, 2008
Less than a month after I (Nathnael) returned from chilly Alaska, I traveled with Ellen Butler and her daughter, Melissa to sunny, warm, and humid Tampa, Florida for a convention there. Most of the time we were in the air conditioned hotel and convention center, but when we did venture out into the muggy outdoors we just about fainted! We are so accustomed to the dry heat of the Pacific Northwest that the humidity of the Gulf Coast was not easy to get used to! On Sunday the convention was over so we all headed to Busch Gardens. We enjoyed the tropical rainforest setting and the lovely zoo animals. The gardens features a wonderful open Africa exhibit visible by a short train ride. We were very thankful for the shade trees that were planted all over—they kept us from collapsing completely in the blazing heat. We enjoyed a few of the rides as well, though we didn’t have time to really take in everything they had there. Busch Gardens is great for families as it has activities for all ages. It has something for everyone, from those who wish to just observe animals from all over the world to those who would enjoy some of the most daring rides in the country. If you’re ever in the Tampa area, Busch Gardens is definitely well worth visiting. |
